WEB vent filters
I bought two packs of these filters several months ago from Lowes. I seen them laying around and decided to give them a shot at stuffing my 306a carts that I use on my Volcano. Each pack comes with 12 filters that are 4" x 12". Of what I have used, and what I see is left, these two packs (or even one pack) looks like a lifetime supply.
I like that they are easier to make for the 306 carts than Fluval. The thickness of these filters look like the perfect thickness for the carts. With Fluval, I never got the same density from splitting the pad. Also, there are much less stray pieces than Fluval. All I do is cut a long strip across the 4" edge that is as thick as the inner cart. Then I push the strip inside the cart and trim flush to the top. Then I take that same long strip to the next cart and do the same. I thought I would share because I'm very happy with the results

Fenix, I have to agree with you; Fluval is not the greatest thing..... at least the "Fluval Water Polishing Pad" isn't. Perhaps one of their other products is better suited for this task.
For a while I was using some stuff I got from Rob at Good Prophets, which I thought was Fluval. After that was gone I bought some Fluval "Water Polishing Pads" from the pet store and though it's better than the polyester batting material I got from Walmart, it's not as good as the stuff I got from GP. It's harder to get the density just right, doesn't hold its shape as well and has "stray" pieces.
Actually the stuff I WAS using, that I liked a LOT, looks just about like what you have here.
Can you tell us what it's made of?

Re: WEB vent filters
The only thing that says on the package is made of a 'self-charging electrostatic material'. Further searching lead me to the answer that it is negative and positively charged fibers of Polypropylene woven together.
I just find this handy for the small 306 carts. I don't know how it would do on bigger carts, but I think if I had bigger carts I might of stuck with Fluval. Who knows, though, this might work good when folded, too.
I don't want to make claims that this is the best thing ever and gives you super clouds of vapor. But, it works as well as the Fluval (to me), I just find it easier to handle.

Re: WEB vent filters
Thanks for the tip, Fenix. I also have a Volcano - have had it for about 6 weeks now - and I'm still going through the pre-filled cartridges. I have yet to try the Cherry or Pineapple, but so far, I'm not crazy about any of the flavors I've tried, so I will definitely be going the e-liquid route in the near future. Plus, like I read in one of Nikko's older posts last night: "Using ONLY pre-filled carts is for suckers(or people who just haven't been educated YET)" and "everyone who's been vaping a little while knows that refilling with bottles of juice gives you SO many more options". I definitely became aware of this pretty quickly as I continued to learn more and more about ecigs, but like most people, wanted to get my feet wet with the pre-filled carts first.
Anyway, what I've been doing is saving my used pre-filled Volcano cartridges, with the plan of cleaning (well, really just rinsing I guess) the used filler material (as seen in a video somewhere on here) and refilling them with juice. Now, I see that you're using a completely different cartridge altogther, but have you previously tried that with Volcano cartridges before? If so, did you have issues, which lead to you switching to these 306 carts? I'm basically wondering if you (and anyone else reading this - esp. Volcano users) think saving all of those used carts is worth it... and also, if so, how many times I can reuse the filler material it came with.
I will continue to research this (and I have to confess I'm a little intimidated about filling my own carts; there just seems to be so many different materials, methods, and tools recommended by everyone), but my plan now is to refill by re-using the original filler material until it becomes worn out... and after that, continue using the cartridges with new filler material, like these vent filters you're recommending.
Thanks for any more tips you may have!

Re: WEB vent filters
I found out about the 306 carts from HJX. You can find them at Rocky Mountain Vapor. I ordered $15 worth to get free shipping and got 25 blank carts. I had the same problems as people mentioned here. As soon as I took all the plastic off the top of the cart, it didn't work as well. I can't explain it better than they just became a nuisance to use. With the OEM carts, you have to find a plug to cover the cartridges up with. I found some racks in my closet that had white rubber caps on the ends of the rods that fit perfect.
The 306 carts work real good the time I've been using them. There is almost no size difference and fit real good. Also, they come with rubber stoppers that slide down into the cartridge to cover the inner cart (while the white caps I used on the OEM only covered the top of the cartridge). So that might preserve the taste longer. The only modification you have to do to the 306 carts is trim about 1mm off the top of the rubber stopper with a razor blade so that the PCC lid will close.
I got just a pack of 5 prefilled Milk Chocolate cartridges (my #1 vaping experience so far) with my Volcano and refilled those for about 2 weeks before ordering the 306 carts. For the first week of refilling them, I used the filler that came with them. I just rinsed them out in warm water to get the flavor out. I've also tried Fluval and Pyramid Tea Bags with them the second week. Pretty much the whole time I used them, I was trying to figure out what I was doing wrong and why it wasn't vaping like it was when I took them out of the box when they had the prefilled liquid. Turned out to what I believe was that there was something about the plastic film/foil being gone.
I would suggest that you just pick up a pack of several different fillings and try each one yourself. Alot of people swear by the Pyramid Tea Bags, but no matter how I slice/roll/fray/stuff it, I couldn't get it to work the way I wanted. And I'm sure those people might not like how the Fluval works. I think finding what works for you is most important, not what the current stuffing trend is.

Re: WEB vent filters
Thanks, Man, I appreciate the info... and you answered another question I had, which was if I needed to cover the cartridges with something after refilling them (which I figured was needed, since they come sealed with the foil)... so obviously the answer is yes, and I take it you used those white rubber caps from your closet on the Volcano carts (sorry, I don't know what OEM carts are, but I gather that's what Volcano uses). Well, if these 306 carts come with rubber stoppers, I see why you like using them. Meanwhile, I guess I better find a plug/stopper of my own before I even attempt refilling my old Volcano carts. Thanks!

Re: WEB vent filters
Don't forget about 401 carts... they also come with a rubber stopper that doesn't just cover the end of the cart but pushes the cart down to the correct depth and helps seal it, inside and outside
They also work very nicely with a Blu or Volcano as long as you don't push them ALL the way down onto the atomizer.... just backed off a hair is fine, and they drain nicely and fit just fine into the Blu PCC without modifications.
And if you still prefer your Blu/Volcano carts, those 401 rubber stoppers work perfectly in them.
As far as filling goes, I have to agree with Fenix; I haven't found the Pyramid Tea Bag method to my liking, either. I've got some Fluval material that isn't perfect, either but had some material I LOVED but haven't found the exact same thing as of yet....
ALL the different methods work, to some degree
Finding the one that suits you the best.... may take a little exploration on your part

Re: WEB vent filters
Thanks, Tinstar
And thank you, Nikko. I didn't know the 401 carts fit, so that's great info to have. And just from reading the forums, I have definitely come to realize that exploration - and creativity - are essential when it comes to tailoring your own e-cig and indeed making it your own personal vaporizer.
Speaking of which, I was going to ask you guys if you had any suggestions to plugging my Volcano carts (other than the white rubber caps from Fenix's closet
)... I went a little overboard starting with the pre-filled cartridges, so I will probably have almost 100 used ones to start with, so I'll obviously be looking to postpone buying any new blanks. HOWEVER, with this creativity in mind, I did take a trip to the hardware store and just perused the aisles for anything that might fit, and lo and behold, I found something that fits PERFECTLY! I'm still pretty new at this, so I shouldn't assume I'm the first one to discover this, but was still psyched to find them on my own. They are Raindrip hole plugs - double sided - and once you snip off one end, they make a PERFECT cap for the Volcano carts! Pack of 10 was a whopping $1.39... oh, and they're black, which is also aesthetically perfect for black carts. Here's what they look like:

Is this common knowledge? I haven't seen this in any of the forums before, but I know there's a lot of info out there I have yet to sift through. If not, I'm planning on taking some pictures and posting my own thread. I'm so happy to have found these!

Good find Viv. I have been looking for something to cap the blu/volcano carts. I have saved a bunch of empty carts to refill in the future. I didn't know about the 401 carts either. Thanks to Nikko for that tip. I might have to order some 401 prefilled carts just try some other flavors. I have not tried refilling my own carts yet but I am going to give it a shot soon.

I had read that 401 carts fit the Blu so when I came across a great deal on a BUNCH of 401 carts, I bought them. At the time, I hadn't even tried a 401. Then I bought a Dragon and discovered what I was missing...

Re: WEB vent filters
Hey Fenix, I was wondering if you're still using these WEB vent filters and if they're still to your liking? I was just shopping at Target today, happened to see them, remembered your post, so I bought a pack. (I forgot, however, that you were using them in 306 carts and not Volcano carts... although I assume that shouldn't matter anyway, as I'm cutting to fit the inner cart.) Anyway, just curious, thanks!
