I would like to know people's stories of why they decided to start vaping.

I started so I could "smoke" inside at work. I had zero intentions of quitting analogs but within 48 hours of getting me first ecig I completely stopped smoking cigarettes after being a 2 pack a day smoker from the age of 14 on.

I started vaping because I found out it existed... Wink

I was sick of the stink, the crappy way I felt, coughing up oysters in the morning on the long drive to work, ashes, ashtrays, going outside to smoke, potential burns from dropped cherries... the list goes on and on and on....

Vaping is a MAJOR upgrade to the habit.... cheers

Started vaping to quit smoking! I was looking into this for months but never trusted any of the vendors out there. By accident I found this forum and with all the reviews I finally pulled the trigger. Thanks to everyone for all the info and help!

I started vaping because I wanted to start a nicotine habit in a reasonably safe way. It has done wonders for my ADHD.

If I could...

Post  HoboSSD on Thu Jan 21, 2010 10:27 am

show you the surgical scars on my body...well, simply put "I was the last person on earth that needed to be smoking."
And I never even knew about ecigs until an almost accidental click on a link. cheers

Back in October my smoking habit had increased to 2 packs a day. I'd become a chain smoker. I started noticing how bad it was making me feel too. I started looking around and found Blu. I checked them out and was less than impressed, but I found lots of others out there. Then I saw Nikko's review of Revolver Elite and ordered one. Twelve days after receiving it, I quit smoking. Today marks two months without smoking a single cigarette. I feel a whole lot better and I really enjoy vaping.

I heard about e-cigs 9 days after I quit smoking. I thought it would be a great "crutch" to have so that I wouldn't fall off the wagon when the cravings hit. When I was ready to order my first e-cig, I had already been smoke-free and nicotine-free for two weeks, so I decided not to put any nicotine back in my system... so I only ordered zero nic cartridges.

This was four months ago... and while I really enjoy vaping and have certainly used it more regularly than a "crutch", I'm still nicotine free... and I haven't had a single urge to smoke an analog. Very Happy

With analogs, I didn't like the smell and going outdoors to smoke was annoying. Also, cig taxes are getting ridiculous. I enjoy smoking, but didn't like the downsides and also would prefer not to be addicted to nicotine in the long run. That convinced me to make the switch. I hope to get down to low/no nicotine liquids in the future.

I started after the last cigarette tax increase here in Florida. Almost 6 bucks a pack seemed unreasonable but I really liked smoking. Not the side effects and the smell but for the social aspect as well as the "something to do with my hands" thing. After dismissing the Smoking Everywhere peddler in the mall, I settled on the Blu for my first e-cig. I just purchased a Joye 510 and I'm totally happy with this thing. I haven't smoked an analog in 70 days and I feel and smell lots better. The only side effect is that instead of vaping becoming just a cigarette replacement, its become a hobby. Smile

I have tried quitting analogs time after time only to fail. I bought my first (and only so far) e-cig. Blu. It was a dissapointment, collected dust for a long time, and was almost sold until I found out mods were easily acheivable.
I cant put this thing down. Its only been 2 days analog free, but already I feel so much better. No urge to smoke, only vape. My girlfriend is getting jelous of my Blu lol she says my hands are on it more then her. Time to put my Blu in time out, never good when the mrs is complaining.

Started vaping to quit smoking analogs. I had tried everything else with no luck. And to my surprise it's worked like a charm. no smokes for over a week now.

I had no intention of quitting smoking, and still have a few analogs a day. When cigarette prices when up yet again, I was looking to buy cheap smokes online. I came across an ad for blu and thought it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. Also, I was sick of not going out because you're not allowed to smoke anywhere anymore.

But, someone should have warned me that vaping can become an obsession. I am constantly on the forums and always looking for new toys to add to my collection. I hear tell that I talk about vaping non-stop.

re: wHY DID YOU START VAPING?

Post  Ghiadon on Wed Feb 24, 2010 4:19 pm

I started to qiut smoking for health reasons. Not so much cancer or feeling bad, my girlfriend told me she would kill me if I didn't quit! Seriously though, my mother heard of ecigs and found a deal for an ecig cheep. I tried it and thought maybe this would be the help I needed after several momentus failures to quit. Went through the cheep one mom got me, Blu, and just got my Revolver Elite three days ago. I didn't want to waste my regular cigs I had just bought so I alternated untill I finished the pack. As of right now (2/24/2010) My last real cig was 8:00 am 2/23/2010 and have been transitioning well. Just need to find the right juice for me. Thanks to Nikko for his review of the Revolver Elite! After my disappointment with Blu I was very gunshy about buying another ecig. If it were not for his review I would probably still be smoking cigs. Thanks again Nikko!!!!!!!
